Pediatrics, east Los Angeles County

How a pediatrics practice multiplied its Google traffic 13 times in a year

In June 2025 this practice took 48 clicks from Google in a month, from under 2,000 impressions, at an average position of 26.8. Nobody was finding them. By July 2026 the same site took 623 clicks in a month from 23,146 impressions at an average position of 10.6.

This is a pediatrics practice serving several cities in the San Gabriel Valley, east of Los Angeles. The numbers come from their Google Search Console.

What 499 page one keywords actually looks like

Across the last 90 days the site ranked for 960 searches that were not the practice name. 499 of them sit on page one, 199 in the top five, and 123 in the top three.

Pediatrics is a volume specialty. Parents search constantly, and almost never for the word "pediatrician." They search what is happening to their child right now, at eleven at night, and that is the opportunity most pediatric practices leave sitting there.

The searches that win in pediatrics are the ones parents type at midnight

Here is the kind of thing this site ranks for, with its average position over 90 days:

  1. "is 99 a fever for a child": position 2.4
  2. "rsv vs strep": position 4.4
  3. "short stature treatments": position 1.0, from over 1,100 impressions
  4. "what is spot vision screening": position 5.9
  5. "importance of school physicals": position 1.1
  6. "why do you need a physical for school": position 4.0

None of these look like marketing. They are the questions a worried parent types before deciding whether to call anyone. A practice that answers them is the practice that parent calls in the morning.

And then the city terms, which are the ones that book appointments

Condition content brings volume. City terms bring patients who are actively choosing a pediatrician. We build both, and we build the city terms for every city the practice can realistically serve.

  1. "pediatric care in covina": position 1.5
  2. "pediatrician covina": position 3.3
  3. "pediatric care in west covina": position 3.4
  4. "pediatrician west covina": position 4.6
  5. "pediatrics west covina": position 4.4
  6. "pediatric clinics near me": position 4.4

The search result that shows where this is all going

One of the searches this site ranks for is "what are the best pediatric care clinics near chino hills, ca?" The practice sits at position 2.

Read that query again. It is a full sentence, with a question mark, written the way somebody talks to an AI assistant. Parents are typing conversational questions into search boxes now because they expect to be understood, and the results pages are rewarding pages that answer the actual question.

That query is also exactly what an AI model reads when a parent asks it where to take their child. The page that ranks second for the typed version is the page the model is most likely to cite for the spoken one. This is why we stopped treating AI search as a separate service. It is the same work.

What we built

A page per condition and a page per city, repeated across the cities this practice can serve. Then the health question content, written to answer the question completely rather than to tease a phone call, because a half answer gets closed in four seconds and tells the search engine the page was no good.

The practice has several physicians, and individual doctor searches bring real traffic too, so each physician gets a page built to rank for their own name. That matters more in pediatrics than in most specialties, because parents ask other parents for a doctor by name and then search that name.

Why pediatrics compounds faster than most specialties

Two reasons. The search volume is enormous, because children get sick constantly and parents research every time. And the conditions are finite and repeatable: fevers, rashes, ear infections, RSV, strep, vaccines, well visits, school physicals, sports physicals, developmental questions. You can genuinely cover the whole territory.

That is not true of every specialty. In pediatrics, a practice that commits to the content can end up owning most of what parents in its area search for.

How long it took

Thirteen months from 48 clicks to 623. The curve was not a straight line. Impressions moved first, then average position, then clicks, which is the normal order and the reason we ask practices to look at impressions in the early months rather than phone calls.

What practices ask us about this account

What does this cost and what do I have to do?

The $97 test covers one keyword and four pages, so you can see the work before you commit to anything. Ongoing work is a monthly retainer starting at $495 and we quote it after we look at your market, because one city costs less than a cluster of them. Your side of it is approving the keyword list and correcting us when we get something clinical wrong. We write the pages, build them and publish them.

Do health question pages actually bring patients, or just traffic?

Both, and the traffic matters more than it looks. A parent who found a clear answer about their child's fever at 11pm has met the practice before they ever need one. The city pages convert; the condition pages build the relationship and the authority that makes the city pages rank.

Does this work for a single physician practice?

Yes. The doctor name pages matter less and the city and condition pages matter more. The structure does not change.

Why did impressions grow before clicks?

Because new pages enter the results at the bottom and climb. Impressions tell you Google has started showing you. Clicks tell you it has started showing you high enough to matter. Watching clicks alone in month two makes a working campaign look like a failing one.

Which practice is this?

Pediatrics is referral heavy and parents talk. The practice would rather that conversation stayed about the care. It is a pediatrics practice in the San Gabriel Valley, east of Los Angeles.
